How To Search

Searching our
Royalty Free Music Catalogue is simplicity itself and yet it has been designed from the ground up to be probably the most powerful and flexible music search facility in the business.

Here follows some basic instructions on using our music search engine but there are a number of tips and tricks you can use to search smarter. The Search Manual available from our
Support pages will reveal all.

Here's a brief rundown of the main seach features and how best to use them:
- Menus can be operated in any order, so start with your most important criterea.
- For guaranteed results, operate one menu at a time and click Search after each selection. Then if you reduce your options too far it's easy to take a step backwards.
- You can also enter keywords to refine your search. We've made this fairly strict, so that only relevant results are presented to you. Again, if you find there are no results, just broaden your search term, use less keywords or resort to using only the menus. The keyword search ignores some 1, 2 and 3 letter words, again in an attempt to reduce the possibility of poor quality results but keyphrases are supported by placing your query in "double quotes", making it easy to locate a particular track or music style.
- The column headers can be clicked to sort the results by Title, Composer, Tempo, Duration or Price. Useful for tempo-matching tracks or finding the longest edits for a corporate production.

- Clicking the Reset button will cancel your current search and recall the whole catalogue to the results area.

- Most of the the track information can be found directly in the search results, however, clicking on a track title takes you into the track page, where you can see all the attributes for that track, links for more tracks in that genre or by that composer and bookmarking facilities to save or share the page via your favourite social bookmarking site.

Note: Alternative edits are denoted with a suffix - important when viewing the tracks in your shopping basket or downloading them after purchase: _30 or _60 are commercial cuts of 30 and 60 seconds; _Lp and _St are single Loops or Stings; _Pk is a pack of Loops and/or Stings.

How To Preview

You will find an embedded FLASH audio player directly underneath every track in the results area. Clicking the green PLAY button will automatically play the file after a very short buffer time (around 1 second on most connections). It will then turn into a red STOP button. There is a yellow PAUSE button to the right and a locator to show your position in the current track preview.

Be sure to stop or pause the track you are playing before playing another, as they can play simultaneously. The colour coding makes it easy to see which tracks are in play mode.

If no FLASH Player is displayed underneath each track you should see a message asking you to update your version of FLASH, if not you might want to check your security settings which may be disabling access to streaming or downloadable files.

Previews on this site are 192kbps, MP3 files (lower quality than the downloads you purchase) and a voice over is added for copyright protection. Previews of full length tracks are restricted to 2 minutes.

How To Purchase

At the top of the results area there are options to view the prices in any of three currencies. UK Pounds Sterling, US Dollars or Euros. Click the currency in which you wish to pay, as this will also be reflected in the Shopping Cart.

Click the Buy button next to the track you want and it will be added to your Shopping Cart. All the items in your Cart will then be displayed for you with the total cost excluding any applicable VAT (and postage if ordering physical products). At this point you may either Continue Shopping or Proceed to Checkout.

Please note that you can also have your files delivered on CD-ROM as CD quality WAV files, rather than MP3s. This has a number of benefits. See the
Delivery
section for further details.

Please take time to review our basic
Licensing Agreement along with the terms of our service and refund policy.

Prior to checkout you will be asked for your personal details (name, address etc.) or if you have purchased or registered previously with the site you can log-in and your details will be recalled.

If you are VAT registered there is a box in which to enter your VAT registration number. VAT is dealt with automatically depending upon where your country of residence is. UK customers pay VAT regardless of whether or not their VAT number is completed, as their VAT may be reclaimed through their return to Customs. Purchases from EU customers who enter their VAT number will be zero-rated and pay the VAT on 'acquisition' in their country of residence. Buyers outside of the EU do not pay VAT. Full details of VAT procedures can be found on the website of HM Customs and Excise.

Proceed to Checkout and a confirmation page will display your Shopping Cart, this time complete with any applicable Postage and VAT. Check carefully before clicking the Proceed button which will take you to the secure servers of WorldPay where you can enter your credit card details and complete the payment.

On acceptance of your payment a confirmation page will appear containing any downloads you have purchased. Print this page as proof of your purchase, then click the Download button next to each track in turn to initiate the transfers to your computer. Do not close your browser at this stage as your downloads cannot then be retrieved.
Contact us should you have any problems in downloading your purchases.

Delivery

Your download will arrive on your computer at the location you have designated through your browser's preferences. Each purchase is represented by a separate .ZIP file which must first be decompressed using Stuffit Expander or WinZip , which are provided as an integral part of modern Mac and Windows operating systems.

Once decompressed a folder will appear containing your audio track(s) together with a PDF copy of the basic Royalty Free Licence Agreement. Please keep this document safe with your tracks as further proof of purchase.

Audio files are delivered in the following formats:

Loops Packs = 44.1Khz, 16 bit, WAV files (CD Quality) for 'glitch-free' operation.
All other edits = 44.1Khz, 256 kbps, high quality MP3 files.

The MP3s are indistinguishable to most ears from the original masters, however you can have all your files delivered as CD quality masters if you wish. Just add the **DELIVERY ON CD** track to your Cart and we will transfer all of your audio files to a PC/MAC CD-ROM. You still get to download the MP3s as normal, allowing you to use them as placeholders in your edit until the replacements arrive in the post. This option also offers instant backup of your purchases.

Physical products will normally be dispatched the same day if ordered before 3pm. These will be delivered to your registered address, so please ensure that your registration is up to date. Deliveries to UK addresses are sent by Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded Delivery. All other destinations by standard Airmail (4-10 days).
