Royalty Free Music is undoubtedly a boon for producers across all media genres and
budgets. However, there are times when it is either necessary or desirable to
commission bespoke music for your project.
Whether you want music and sound effects synchronised to your visuals, or just need
exclusive rights to a specially recorded track for an important client, 2b are ready
to take up the challenge.
Our experience in this area extends over ten years with in excess of 200 commissions
for the likes of ITV, BBC, Discovery and numerous large corporate clients such as Speedo, Twinings and Ernst & Young.

Without doubt the most inspiring way to write interesting and ear-catching music is by writing to picture, where the composer is often forced to make creative
decisions and react to what is happening on-screen. Perhaps an unusual tempo or time-signature change is required to meet the key hit-points, or
an unexpected key or mood change might enhance the visuals further. It's just a great way to get those creative juices flowing and with this in mind, 2b are currently
offering music to picture scoring for just £99.
Rules Of Engagement: There have to be some ground rules with this proposition, otherwise my poor children will waste away while I endeavour to fulfill a mountain
of low-budget music commissions. So the programme will operate as follows:
1. The offer is available worldwide but only one music request will be allowed per project and we reserve the right to select and prioritise which projects to work on.
It can be for any purpose or project except TV title music (background sequences are fine, as are commercials, provided that any
extended licences
are purchased as required).
2. We can't guarantee that your request will be fulfilled, as we can only complete as many tracks as our limited downtime will allow for. We suggest applying for
non-critical projects that have at least two weeks lead-time, or those that you have alternative music for. However, for all requests we receive we will conduct a free
music search which will hopefully provide you with some useful alternatives - Hey, bespoke music searches are free anyway so
give us a call!
3. Initially, you need only send us a short brief about your project and your single music request. No payment is necessary. We will advise you if and when we are able to
begin work on your request, at which point we will need full details, perhaps a Quicktime movie to work with and stylistic ideas if you have something in mind.
Please do not email us Quicktime movies without our first requesting them. We will also work to a detailed brief if you don't have a finished sequence
ready but prefer as much creative input as possible to ensure we can meet your requirements.
4. Whilst we can't guarantee to take on your request, neither is there any obligation for you to accept the final composition and proceed with the purchase.
If you are not satisfied and not prepared to pay for cosmetic changes, there is no pressure to buy. This is a very good reason
to offer as much information and creative input as possible before we start (more later).
5. On completion we will offer you the track for just £99 (or foreign currency equivalent, plus VAT where applicable). Should you accept and purchase the track our standard,
non-exclusive licence agreement
will apply. For the avoidance of doubt, we will own all the copyrights in the music as normal but will grant you the right to use it on your
projects, within the terms of our licence, without further charge. If your usage requires licence-extensions for mass-production or commercials, they must be purchased at
our standard rates
.
6. All specially composed tracks will eventually be absorbed into the library but you get to have it written to your brief, timed to your pictures for a quite unbelievable price.
To initiate a request, please send an email
stating:
- Your name and company name.
- Contact details including website if you have one.
- A brief summary of your project and who or what it is for.
- A brief summary of your single, music request including duration, music style/genre and how it will be used in your project.
- Details of the materials you can provide for us to work with, such as Quicktime movies, extracts from scripts, storyboards, temp music or anything else
that might help us to realise your vision.
We respect your privacy
and do not sell information to third parties.
This is a great opportunity, particularly for those who may never have commissioned a piece of music before, and I very much look forward to hearing your
suggestions. I'm sorry we can't help everybody but your requests can still give us valuable clues as to what our library might be lacking, so that we can take steps to plug those gaps.
